EMC Scanner - EMxpert

EMI Scanning Solutions & Assessment Tools

Finding, characterizing and effectively addressing unintended radiators (EMI/EMC) or RF leakage continues to be a persistent design challenge for groups doing designs involving high speed or high power or high density/complexity with a premium on “real estate”.

EMXpert is a unique magnetic near field scanning system that helps designers be highly productive in understanding and diagnosing these problems, quickly and early in the development cycle.

The EMXpert System primarily provides designers with a very rapid and highly repeatable measurement approach to identify problem frequencies, problem sources (and their physical location) contributing to EMI and RF leakage issues in PCB/PCP designs or within integrated configured systems.


CONTROLLER FEATURES


The EMXpert Controller supports a variety of high speed scanning options. it interfaces with a broad range of the most prevalent Spectrum Analyzers models.


The Controller manages the scanning options and the processing chosen, along with the subsequent analysis of the collected data. A wide range of scanning options are available to support efficient problem detection and diagnosis.


Spectral Scanning

A Spectral Scan identifies problem frequencies on your circuit board by measuring and plotting the peak amplitudes for a chosen range of frequencies.

Once a problem frequency is identified, a Spatial Scan is used to map the location and amplitude of that frequency on the circuit board. You can zoom in/out the graphic to analyze the problem frequencies. 




 

Spatial Scanning 


A Spatial Scan provides you with a visual image of the location and intensity of EMI on your circuit board. The amplitudes derived from the Spatial Scan are displayed as a color, topographical map. This feature gives you 2D and 3D display which can be rotated and inclined and the white noise signal can be filtered by the Amplitude value. You can zoom in/out the graphic.



 

Spectral/Spatial Scanning


A spectral/Spatial scan measures the magnetic field of radiated electromagnetic emissions from an object as a function of both frequency and position. The spectral/spatial scan collects a series of spatial scans over the entire frequency range of interest as opposed to a spatial scan (which gathers data at single frequency) or a spectral scan (which saves only the composite data set).


Spectral/Spatial Scripting Module 

This is a very efficient way to configure, initiate, and process a number of consecutive scans. The Spectral/Spatial Scripting module collects all of the frequency, amplitude, location and time based activity for a device with a minimum setup. It allows you to define several scripts at once and then run them consecutively.


Continuous Scanning & Peak Hold

A unique feature of the EMXpert System, where data is repeatedly accumulated at a high rate that the display can essentially show moving pictures (video) of the data in real time. It helps you to visualize the changes made on the design real-time.
